Supervisory Environmental Protection Specialist

This position is located within the Department of the Interior, Bureau of Ocean Energy Management (BOEM), Alaska Outer Continental Shelf (OCS) Region, Office of Environment, in Anchorage, AK. The incumbent would serve as an Environmental Assessment Section Chief and is responsible for managing and coordinating the activities of a multidisciplinary staff in the conduct of environmental assessment and study evaluations relating to the OCS and adjacent coastal areas. At the full performance level, GS-14 the major duties of this position include, but are not limited to the following:
1. The EA Chief serves a supervisor of the Environmental Assessment Section and is responsible for managing and coordinating the activities of a multidisciplinary staff in the conduct of environmental assessment and study evaluations relating to the OCS and adjacent coastal areas. 2. Regional Authority on NEPA compliance for both pre- and post- lease sale activities. 3. Responsible for the development, standardization, and analysis of environmental impact statements (EISs) and environmental assessments (EAs) for specific lease sale areas. Ensures coordination of State and other Federal agencies in EIS development, and reviews internal EISs. 4. Participates in long-range planning and programming of lease sales to ensure adequate compliance with NEPA, Council on Environmental Quality (CEQ) Regulations, and Bureau and Departmental requirements for environmental analysis. 5. Provides input to the Studies program through review of study plans, reports, proposals, and Statements of Work; participation in Technical Proposal Evaluation Committees; and identification of data gaps. The Bureau of Ocean Energy Management has determined that the duties of this position are suitable for telework only during an emergency or natural disaster. Salary Information:
GS-14:
$120,563-$156,730 per annum. NOTE:

To qualify for this position you must meet the Specialized Experience for the grade to which you are applying. Specialized
Experience:
To qualify for the GS-14, you must possess at least one full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-13 grade level in the Federal service, or comparable experience not gained through Federal service. Specialized experience is experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. Specialized experience is defined as demonstrated
Experience:
1) planning preparing, and reviewing documents involving environmental impact analyses, (such as programmatic environmental documents, environmental impact statements for large projects or multi-year program plans) in accordance with the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) and/or other environmental laws; 2) leading and/or supervising a diverse scientific staff in the management of environmental programs; and 3) leading community meetings involving a variety of stakeholders to obtain stakeholder views. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
