As a Trust Accounts Administrator GS-0501-9/11/12, your typical work assignments may include the following under supervision:
Prepare a wide range of complex financial documents for processing through an automated financial and accounting system(s) with respect to the source document information provided by internal and external customers. Responsible for preparation, verification, and review of routine file maintenance (RFM) items for beneficiaries. Participate in a wide range of audit issues and regulatory compliance matters by providing necessary interface with internal and external customers. Ensure compliance with the Financial Managers Federal Integrity Act (FMFIA) through the retrieval, review, and analysis of various automated financial and accounting system reports. Responsible for performing technical research of current accounts, historical data, source documents, the development of comparative data and participating in similar analytical activities. Serves as representative of Office of Special Trustee (OST) on various issues and tribal functions to both governmental and nongovernmental groups. Ensuring compliance with Freedom of Information Act (FOIA), Privacy Act and regulations by maintaining the confidentiality and safeguarding of all trust records. Ensure trust transactions are processed in accordance with federal regulations, and Office of Special Trustee (OST) policies and procedures. Provide program and administrative training on operational insight of policies, procedures and technical functions for a team. Leads a team by providing technical guidance and maintaining oversight over the team's activities and workload. Applicants must meet the qualification requirements contained in the OPM Standards. Experience:
Experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. FOR GS-09 GRADE LEVEL:
Applicants must possess A, B, or C below:
A. One (1) year of specialized experience that equipped me with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of this position. This experience is related to the work of the position and equivalent to at least the GS-07 level in the Federal service that includes:
establish effective relationships and cooperation with internal and external stakeholders on trust accounts and asset issues; research and interpret policies, regulations, guidelines, procedures that pertain to trust fund accounts and assets; demonstrate ability to communicate complex information effectively and concisely; utilize an automated financial and accounting system by applying fiduciary accounting principles for processing transactions and disbursements. OR B. Successful completion of a master's or equivalent graduate degree; OR two (2) full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a masters degree; OR LL.B. or J.D. degree directly related field of study which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities required by this position. (You must submit copies of your official college transcripts.) OR C. A combination of specialized experience (as defined in A above) and education (as defined in B above) that equates to one full year of experience to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages. (You must submit a copy of your transcripts to support this education, and your resume must support the experience.) FOR GS-11 GRADE LEVEL:

A. One (1) year of specialized experience that equipped me with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of this position. This experience is related to the work of the position and equivalent to at least the GS-09 level in the Federal service that includes:
Apply policies, regulations, procedures, and guidelines that pertain to trust fund accounts and assets to provide recommendations to complex solutions/issues; apply comprehensive fiduciary accounting related to recording of transactions for accounts, assets and issuing reports; advise on recording transactions and reporting in automated financial and accounting system; maintain files and administer records management for a department. OR B. Successful completion of a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree; OR I have successfully completed three (3) full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree; OR I have obtained a LL.M. degree directly related field of study which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities required by this position. (You must submit copies of your official college transcripts.) OR C. A combination of specialized experience (as defined in A above) and education (as defined in B above) that equates to one full year of experience to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages. (You must submit a copy of your transcripts to support this education, and your resume must support the experience.) FOR GS-12 GRADE LEVEL:
One (1) year of specialized experience that equipped me with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of this position. This experience is related to the work of the position and equivalent to at least the GS-11 level in the Federal service that includes:
Advise on a wide range of policies, regulations and guidelines that pertain to trust fund accounts and assets to internal and external customers; interpret judgement court awards, congressional legislation to trust fund accounts and assets; provide technical knowledge on surface and subsurface management asset services to beneficiaries and staff members; leading, directing, and/or reviewing the work of staff members to ensure compliance with trust related functions, accounts and assets. Only experience and education obtained by the closing date of this announcement will be considered. Time-In-Grade Requirements:
Merit Promotion (status) candidates must have completed one year (52 weeks) of service at the next lower grade level.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
