Pharmacist (Resident)

The pharmacy residency is an organized, directed, postgraduate training in a defined area of pharmacy practice. The graduate will have refined skills in drug therapy management, disease state management, patient consultation, interviewing techniques, laboratory test interpretation and physical assessment. The graduate will be able to communicate and function effectively with other health care professionals in the IHS and understand their roles and those of the organization. Using prescribed methods, the incumbent performs clinical assignments of moderate scope and complexity under the general supervision of the supervisor. Assignments are accomplished by applying familiarity with and use of a number of standard principles, methods, and practices as necessary in order to adapt practices and techniques to specific situations; to adjust and correlate data; to recognize discrepancies and deviations in results and to follow an operation through of series of related detailed steps and/or processes in carrying out the work assignments. The resident carries out clinical pharmacy functions of drug selection, compounding and dispensing which involves a varied range of therapeutic agents. Performs clinical assignments of advanced scope and complexity under the general supervision of the supervisor. Applys a number of standard principles, methods, and practices as necessary in order to adapt practices and techniques to specific situations. Provides authoritative and professional guidance on problems of difficult, complex, or unusual nature. Provides information and consultative advice to patients and providers on contraindications, adverse effects of drugs, and therapeutic drug selection options. Participates in inter-and- intra-departmental hospital training programs for such groups as physicians, mid-level providers, nurses, pharmacists and community health representatives. Performs physical assessment of patients, and with medical staff approval and local privileging, may assess patients and select, initiate, adjust, and monitor medication regimens, which may include assessing current disease status or diagnosis of new medical conditions. To qualify for this position, your resume must state sufficient experience and/or education, to perform the duties of the specific position for which you are applying. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer and part time experience. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. The Hiring Manager/Selecting Official may elect to utilize an available flexibility wherein applicants who are currently enrolled and expected to complete the required education and obtain the required licensure/certification/registration with 9 month(s) of applying, may be deemed tentatively qualified. BASIC REQUIREMENT(S):
Education:
A doctoral degree in Pharmacy that is recognized by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE) or an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained. Licensure:
All applicants must have passed the North American Pharmacist Licensure Examination (NAPLEX) and the Multistate Pharmacy Jurisprudence Examination (MPJE). Applicants also must be licensed to practice pharmacy in a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States. Those who will be meeting the Education and Licensure requirement within the 9-month period will be tentatively qualified and referred. If selected, you will be required to provide Official Transcript and Valid Pharmacy License before appointment.
Experience:
Applicant's qualifications background must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, abilities, and competencies necessary to perform the work of the position. Pharmacy work requires knowledge of the use, clinical effects, and composition of medications, including their chemical, biological, and physical properties. Qualifying professional pharmacy experience may involve, but is not limited to:
- Dispensing medications prescribed by physicians and other health practitioners and providing information to health practitioners and patients about proper usage of medications and side effects; - Evaluating medication use patterns and outcomes for patients in hospitals or managed care organizations; - Performing administrative, consultative, or staff advisory work for a medical facility's pharmacy program; - Planning, monitoring and evaluating medication programs or regimens; - Establishing medication-handling procedures for the storage and preservation of medications; - Researching medical literature and/or clinical medication information to provide accurate responses to inquiries; and/or - Maintaining all medication records required by law. Medical Requirements:
Applicants must be able to distinguish basic colors. You must meet all qualification requirements within 30 days of the closing date of the announcement.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
