The Cook position is responsible for taking customer orders, serving and plating food. Some food preparation and food assembly may also be required. Operates in a high volume fast paced setting in a Hospital environment. Position may also be designated as grill cook, line cook or prep cook.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

Serve customers; communicate with customers about meal items being served.

Makes eye contact with customer, cheerful and outgoing.

Takes customer food orders.

Cook and plate foods such as hamburgers, fries, prepared to order

Maintain sanitation, health and safety standards in work area.

Appropriate portion control for all servings.

Operate large open deep-fat fryer.

Able to read food order slips.

Cooks all product to department and HACCP standards.

Ability to multi task preparing several orders at the same time.

May operate one or more of the following, steam table, hot sandwich/tortilla press, hot soup tureen, blender, grill, food warmers, and ovens and pizza ovens.

Use of a knife is required.

May assist with the opening or closing of the department .

Assist with keeping the department in stock.

Performs personal duties as required by the overall food service operations.

Washes objects by hand or with cleaning equipment.

May be required to clean dishes, utensils, pots, pans etc. and places in assigned storage areas in an organized and orderly manner.

Cleans, sweeps, wipes down, etc. all general dining, food prep, or storage areas (in some cases).

Helps break down cardboard boxes and takes them to the cardboard crusher.

Removes garbage from assigned areas, sets up or breaks down tables, snack bars, display cases, serving lines. Etc.

Assists with various periodically scheduled large cleaning projects.

Actively supports and participates in performance improvement activities.

Assists co-workers during staffing shortages.

Supports an active safety program.

Continuously seeks to improve the quality of assigned activities.

Maintains excellent customer communications and relations that permit continuous improvement in provided services, efficient problem resolutions and acceptance of new services.

Performs other duties as assigned by the Management Team.

Other related duties may also be assigned.

Qualifications
THIS POSITION REQUIRES:

High school diploma or GED equivalent.

Alaska Food Workers Card or ServSafe Certification contingent upon 30 days of hire.

At least one (1) year of work experience or documented vocational training sufficient to demonstrate a knowledge of cleaning equipment, food preparation, and general cleaning processes or a suitability for this type of work.

Must pass a fingerprinting background investigation that complies with The Crime Control Act, Child Care Worker Act and the Indian Child Protection and Family Violence Prevention Act.

Must be fluent in speaking, reading, and writing English.
Vaccinations (must provide prior to first day of work):

Proof of immunization for measles, mumps, rubella (MMR), Varicella (chicken pox), TB, and any other immunizations and screenings designated in the current ANTHC Employee Health Program for Infection Control in Hospital Personnel.

Annual flu vaccination documentation to Contractor.

Contractor may be required to maintain all employee health records on site
PREFERRED:

Cafeteria healthcare experience preferred.

Certain positions require a valid Driver s License and an acceptable driving record for the past three (3) years to be eligible under NMS vehicle insurance policy.

Must be proficient in using the following equipment: Dish machine, Steam Table, broiler, toaster, blender, sandwich/tortilla press, oven, soup wells, and warmers.

Must be able to work independently and complete assignments in a timely manner.

Must be able to perform each of the essential duties listed above with a professional degree of competency.

Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is primarily in a controlled, temperate environment. The employee is occasionally required to walk, use hands, and reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Certain positions may require the employee to have the physical stamina to work long hours every day for extended periods of time. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
