Description
Summary:
Responsible for applying electrical design and engineering skills to a variety of diverse and challenging projects throughout Alaska in a multi-disciplinary environment. The successful candidate will have a minimum of 5 years of experience in the electrical engineering/design consulting business, and demonstrated arctic and commercial or industrial /oil and gas design capabilities.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND
Responsibilities:
Prepares and monitors project budgets for projects.
Responsible for project schedules and timely completion of assigned projects.
Serves as a project manager or project engineer and as a designated client contact.
Coordinates pricing, estimating, scoping and marketing strategies for proposed projects.
Prepares engineering agreements for his/her projects within the department.
Prepares design computations and quantity estimates
Develops probable construction cost estimates for his/her projects within the department
Attends client meetings - days or nights.
Responsible for keeping management informed about work in process, ensures accurate client billings, and monitors outstanding accounts receivable and collection efforts on his/her projects.
Analyzes reports, maps, drawings, blueprints, and tests to plan and design projects.
Directs and supervises other engineers activities as needed.
Handles routine contract administration.
Prepares or modifies reports, specifications, plans, construction schedules and designs for project.
Instructs draftspersons/technicians on converting designs to working drawings.
Visits construction sites to monitor progress and other duties per the contract documents.
Serves as onsite project representative.
Uses computer assisted engineering and design software and equipment tin preparation of engineering and design documents.
Responsible for project manager and/or project team quality system tasks as defined in the quality manual.
Other duties may be assigned.
Qualifications
EDUCATION AND
Experience:

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited four-year college or university required
Alaska PE required
A minimum of five (5) years experience in electrical engineering, including experience with the A/E design process and specifications leading to construction documents.
Proficient with MS Office software; including MS Word and Excel, Building Information Management (BIM) Revit software, and AutoCADD
Experience preparing graphical representations of designs
Experience in lighting, power, signal, communication, controls and fire detection systems
Experience in performing design calculations and preparing equipment or material specifications
Experience with all phases of project management and production
Experience in project delivery of Alaska projects
Experience in budgeting, scheduling, planning, design specification and working drawings
Working knowledge of applicable electrical design codes and arctic design
Demonstrated ability to sell services and increase project backlog
Demonstrated ability to work successfully in a team environment
Demonstrated ability to work successfully in a fast-track environment
Excellent written/verbal communication skills to peers, managers, and clients
Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
Must be able to travel to remote locations in arctic environment as needed
Experience in commercial, state and federal facility design desirable
Industrial, oil and gas facility design desirable
Project management professional, earned value project management experience, LEED desirable
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
Alaska PE required
Valid AK drivers license required.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, talk or listen. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee occasionally works in exterior weather conditions. The noise level in the office work environment is usually moderate. The noise level on the construction site is often loud. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to ten pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to twenty-five pounds.
The position will require the employee to travel to rural Alaska at various times of the year. Air travel from hub airports to village airfields is often via small aircraft, and weather conditions can vary from summer conditions to arctic winter. In winter conditions, the employee may be required to carry additional arctic gear to perform the work.

The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
