Senior Accountant-Anchorage

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt, Full-time Regular, Hourly
Location: Anchorage
Reports To: Corporate Controller
Position
Summary:
The Senior Accountant reports directly to the Corporate Controller. The incumbent independently performs a variety of assignments in accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll and general ledger requiring the exercise of independent judgment in the evaluation, selection and application of standard accounting techniques, procedures and criteria to make minor adaptations and modifications. This position is also responsible for guiding, directing and recommending course of action to the accounting support team.
Essential Job Functions:
o Lead accounting support team with day to day tasks
o Perform/review bank account reconciliations and assist with corporate balance sheet reconciliations
o Assist in month-end close process
o Assists in maintaining and updating financial procedures and processes as needed
o Assist/direct Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable teams to insure proper Job Cost and GL postings
o Assist in reconciling job cost reports to project budgets and GL
o Coordinates project and program audits as required
o Provides financial support to the corporate office or other offices
Required Minimum
Qualifications:
o Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration or Accounting or Finance or
o Four years of any combination of Accounting or Finance experience in which;
a.) One year of journey professional level accounting, financial management experience or
b.) Two years of advanced technical level accounting experience
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:
o Four (4) years minimum of progressive general accounting/finance experience
o Comprehensive knowledge in Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, Payroll and General Ledger
o Proficient in processing invoice cycle, revenue cycle and conducting reconciliations
o Timberline/SAGE 300 and project costing experience preferred.
o Advanced knowledge of accounting theory and methods.
o Works well in a fast paced environment.
o Well-developed interpersonal skills and gets along with diverse personalities.
o Strong written and verbal communications skills.
o Intermediate experience with data base, spreadsheet and Microsoft processing programs
o Ability to handle stress and possess positive attitude even in difficult or challenging situations
o Self-motivated and have the ability to work with minimal supervision.
o Ability to attend training sessions, seminars and appropriate educational classes required by department

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
