UNIX System Administrator
The administrator must have a strong foundation in UNIX server administration, primarily Solaris with trusted extensions, general Ethernet networking, and trusted system concepts. SA personnel must be familiar with ORACLE database management and structured query language (SQL), and must understand government communications security (COMSEC) procedures and requirements.
Primary duties:
Maintain operation and connectivity of the main servers (3-5 per base, 1 per squadron when deployed) and all network devices
Setup, configure, repair and maintain all hardware including servers, workstations, and ruggedized laptops
Install IMIS software
Troubleshoot user issues and answer user questions about IMIS applications
Create and modify user accounts
Ensure secure backup / restoration of system data
Additional
Qualifications:
5 years' experience managing large-scale, secure network systems (500-1500 users) in a DoD environment
3-5 years' experience supporting multi-level secure systems, including establishing and maintaining secure user accounts
Prior experience setting up ad-hoc networks at deployed locations
Travel:
High potential exists for personnel to deploy anywhere in the world for an extended period of time on short notice, for an undetermined time period.
SA personnel shall also provide on-call support with potential to report in-person if the need arises to support the flying squadron at home station sites on weekends and non-duty days. When deployed, either stateside or overseas, SA personnel shall provide around-the-clock (24 hours per day, IAW section 5.3) operational support for each flying squadron at a deployed location.
In some cases, SA personnel may be required to perform their duties in potentially dangerous locations.
