JOB SUMMARY
Under the supervision of the Project Manager, the HSE Specialist is responsible for implementing and monitoring site-specific health, safety and environmental (HSE) operations and tasks at the assigned job site. The HSE Specialist is the primary contact for employees and supervisors concerning safety-related matters and is responsible for the application of Health, Safety, & Environmental (HSE) programs. This includes but is not limited to: risk management activities, industrial hygiene, applicable report writing, industrial HSE compliance auditing, HSE training, HSE program development, incident investigation and data trending and analysis. The HSE Specialist provides resources and information to requestors as needed.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor Degree in Occupational Safety and Health, Business, or a related field from an accredited educational institution, or an Associate Degree in Occupational Safety and Health or a related field from an accredited institution AND two years safety and/or occupational health operations
Two years supervisory experience responsible for team safety and implementing safety programs
Two years direct experience in the delivery and development of comprehensive training programs
Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Access
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Five years documented experience in leadership role, responsible for safety and/or occupational health operations
Current CHST or OHST certifications.
Certification in TapRooT required at hiring or obtained within one year of hiring
Complete Safety in Motion training at hiring or obtained within one year of hiring
Understanding of Food Safety process and procedure
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Conduct on going safety training
Develop safety training programs pertinent to job site needs
Interact with crew members from all departs and function as a liaison between management and crew to communicate safety concerns and issues
Conduct regular inspections, safety audits and hazard assessments of work locations, work groups, projects and individuals at the assigned
Identify hazards and potential risks and prepare operations staff to do so. Ensure jobsite compliance with DUS and client safety regulations
Advise DUS jobsite managers on HSE-related matters, and provide resources for DUS HSE-related activities as appropriate.

Knowledge of principles and practices of customer service.
Ability to communicate effectively through oral and written communication to individuals and groups of various sizes who possess a wide range of language skills.
Ability to interact effectively with individuals in a wide range of situations, circumstances and settings; the ability to work effectively with a diverse workforce to achieve stated business objectives.
Ability to operate a computer effectively and the ability to use Microsoft Office products and other software applications effectively to manage information.
Ability to act appropriately in emergency situations.
Ability to pass pre-employment drug screening; health screening and background checks to DUS standards.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The employee's work requires routine walking, standing, bending and carrying items weighing up to 50 pounds. There is a lack of immediate access to critical medical services as well as urban community services.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
