We are seeking a Piping Designer with checking experience for one of our top clients in Anchorage, AK, an engineering and construction company that provides engineering services to the oil and gas, mining and power industries. Proficiency in Cadworx design software is required. Working knowledge of Bentley Autoplant is strongly preferred.
The Piping Designer is responsible for producing piping and equipment layouts for various projects, complying with our's client drawing standards and accepted industry practices. Prior design work in Anchorage and/or on the North Slope is required for this position.
The Piping Designer is also responsible for:
Independently evaluating, selecting and applying standard design techniques, procedures and criteria; using judgment in making adaptations and modifications on medium complexity projects
Conducting field investigations, producing clear field reports with detailed sketches, photos, written and verbal instructions
Developing detailed design elements using information from various sources, which may include site studies, vendor drawings, catalog data, engineering sketches, written and verbal instructions
Reviewing and checking design drawings and vendor shop drawings
Participating in design coordination with Engineers; providing technical guidance
Effectively completing a project through all of its phases, conceptual through close- out
Coordinating design information with other disciplines in the development of complete drawing packages

years of experience in piping design and checking, with prior refinery work in Anchorage and/or on the North Slope
In- depth working knowledge and application of piping discipline with specific skills including codes, standards and design theory
Strong computer skills, including practical knowledge of CADD software, MS Word, Excel and Outlook
Proficiency in Cadworx and AutoCAD required; proficiency in Bentley Autoplant is strongly preferred
