General Functions:
The Building Maintenance Technician will provide routine internal and external preventive maintenance and repair work at the Ernie Turner Center facility. The maintenance worker must possess skills in handiwork and be comfortable using power tools.
Duties and Responsibilities, including but not limited to:
Report damage and maintenance needs to supervisor.
Perform maintenance repairs as needed
Prepare and paint walls and woodwork or performs other types of finishes.
Capable of small carpentry projects (i.e. building shelves)
Repair or replace flooring, doors, windows, blinds and fixtures.
Electrical and plumbing repairs required based on experience and expertise.
Stain removal from floors and carpet shampooing
Removal of snow and ice from grounds and roof.
Work with and provide training to the Work Therapy maintenance crew.
Procure and pick-up necessary supplies to accomplish repairs and related maintenance.
Perform all others duties as needed and/or assigned.
Client Relations
Maintains a respectful relationship with participants, former participants and family members.
Internal Relations
Required maintain and comply with federal confidentiality laws as outline in 42 CFR, Part 2 and the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA).
Maintains a positive working relationship with CITC staff and supports management of the organization
Participates in scheduled external/internal meetings and training's as requested
Job Responsibilities Related to Patient Privacy:
The incumbent is expected to protect the privacy of all patient information in accordance with CITC's privacy policies, procedures and practices, as required by federal and state law, and in accordance with general principles of professionalism as a health care provider. Failure to comply with CITC's policies and procedures on patient privacy may result in disciplinary action up to and including termination of employment or membership or association with CITC.
The incumbent may access protected health information and other patient information only to the extent that is necessary to complete your job duties. The incumbent may only share such information with those who have a need to know specific patient information you have in your possession to complete their job responsibilities related to treatment, payment or other CITC operations.
The incumbent is encouraged and expected to report, without the threat of retaliation, any concerns regarding CITC's policies and procedures on patient privacy and any observed practices in violation of the policy to the designated Privacy Officer.
The incumbent is expected to actively participate in CITC privacy training and is required to communicate privacy policy information to coworkers, students, patients and others in accordance with CITC policy.

Required to have a current TB immunization and/or verification incumbent is a reactor.
Voluntary immunization for HEP A&B; will be offered/provided.
Familiar with Microsoft Office software, specifically Outlook, Excel and Word.
Typical Physical Demands:
Demonstrated ability to perform a range of physical motions including but not limited to:
Lifting and carrying of 50 pounds or more.
Standing, bending, kneeling, squatting, stretching and stooping.

Qualifications:
High School Diploma or GED
Minimum two years related work experience preferred.
Extensive experience working with Alaska Native people, knowledge of their values and belief systems and ability to provide culturally competent services.
Valid Alaska Driver's License preferred and be insurable under CITC's automotive insurance.
Continued employment is contingent upon completion of a satisfactory state and federal background check.

Preference shall be given to eligible and qualified Alaska Native/American Indian applicants pursuant to P.L. 93-638 Indian Self Determination Act.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
