Open to the general public and any current Municipal employee. If the person selected is not affiliated with theAMEA, he or she must become a member in good standing within 31 days of beginning work.
This position is represented by the Anchorage Municipal Employees Association (AMEA) and is subject to the provisions of the current agreement between the Municipality of Anchorage and the AMEA.

HOURS OF WORK:MondaythroughFriday; 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Example of Duties:
Inspect Public Works Construction Projects to ensure quality construction and contract compliance. Review of plans and specifications for future construction projects. Preparation of as-built drawings and recordsfrom previous season''s construction. Assist with pre-construction tasks such as permit acquisition andcost estimating. Assist with project close out activities such as final pay estimates and punchlist development. Other duties as assigned.
Overtime beyond 40 hours per week is required during the construction season.
Minimum Qualifications / Substitutions / Special
Qualifications:
High school diploma, GED, or equivalent and three (3) years technical level engineering experience in one or more of the following fields: Drafting, Surveying, Inspection, Materials Testing, Plan Review, Permitting, Computerized Mapping, Computer Assisted Design (CAD), Traffic Signal Control, Code Enforcement, or a related field which included one (1) year of experience inInspection at the Engineering Technician II level with the Municipality or equivalent elsewhere. Must possess a valid State of Alaska Driver''s License by the time of hire.
Substitution:
Post-secondary education in the fields listed above, or a related field may substitute on a year for year basis for up to two (2) years of the required experience.
Preferences:
Applicants with experience incivil construction practices relating to the construction of roads, drainage facilities, utilities, pedestrian facilities, lighting and signal systems and other infrastructure within the public right-of-way.

If selected for hire, appointment in this position will be conditional based upon the submission of a current copy of the applicant's State ofAlaska Driver's License and a current (dated within 30 days from date requested) copy of his/her Department of Motor Vehicle (DMV)driving record, including a driving record from previous states if the Alaska driver's license was first issued within one year prior to application, documenting an acceptable driving history. The processing fee(s) are the responsibility of the selected applicant.
If selected for hire, the appointment in this position will be conditional based upon a satisfactory Municipal Employment Office conducted Background Check. A Background Check encompasses criminal history, verifying education, and verifying dates of employment.
All required certifications and licenses must remain current for the duration of employment.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
