SummaryWorking under general supervision, the CAD Technician is responsible for the maintenance and accuracy of CAD and CAD related documents, the Engineering Document Management (EDM) system and other repositories. This position provides CAD support for all departments.Reporting Relationships Reports to:
Manager, CAD/GIS Services Trains:
Users and maintainers of the CAD system Representative Duties Performs tasks to create, edit or verify CAD drawings and related data. Interprets construction and maintenance work from documentation or verbal direction to accurately update the CAD repository in a timely manner. This includes, but is not limited to performing or verifying data entry, and/or editing, attributing, and developing data sets. Performs tasks to create or update CAD drawings from notes, sketches, drawings, data files, GPS, or verbal direction. Verifies data following department Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC) procedures to ensure the creation and maintenance of accurate data including relationships. Creates reports or extracts data using reporting tools or pre-defined queries. Works with users to ensure CAD repository workflow is followed. Download, convert, and upload CAD data available from internal or external sources. Catalog, inventory, and consolidate CAD data, including metadata creation to department standards. Ensures the plotter and scanner are operational by performing basic maintenance and loading paper or ink/pearls. Reports technical difficulties and supply needs to the Department Manager. Assists the CAD Specialist with testing CAD software enhancements, upgrades, and configurations. Provides resource estimations, periodic status repo11s,and write-ups of CAD activities. May assist in performing Grade 9 GIS duties. Performs other related duties and projects as assigned. RelationshipsInternal Manager, CAD/GIS Services:

Corresponds with to resolve problems and gain assistance. EducationA high school diploma or equivalent plus completion of twenty (20) total college semester credit hours in CAD, GIS/geomatics, remote sensing, photogrammetry, computer science, natural science, surveying technology, engineering, urban planning, cartography, geography, or related field are required. Minimum of nine (9) credit hours is required in CAD. Degree or CAD Certification preferred.ExperienceFour (4) years of work experience where CAD is a major responsibility is required.Education/Experience SubstitutionAdditional work experience where CAD is a major responsibility above the required four (4) years may be substituted for the required education; likewise, additional education in CAD may be substituted for up to two (2) years required work experience. For these purposes, one (1) year of experience is equivalent to six (6) college semester credit hours of education.Knowledge/Skills/Abilities Must have the ability to proficiently and independently operate CAD software packages to perform the representative duties. Must have the ability to learn or do basic GIS editing. Some GIS experience or education preferred. Must be detail and accuracy oriented. Must have strong mathematical skills. Should have an understanding of electrical/civil drafting disciplines, drawing standards, associated symbology, electric utility engineering and design concepts. Ability to translate physical field plant work documentation to update CAD data and displays. Knowledge of and ability to follow QA/QC procedures. Knowledge of AutoLISP and /or macro languages related to CAD is desired. Ability to import and export data to various formats. Ability to understand land-based coordinate systems. Must exhibit excellent English verbal and written communication skills. Skilled in writing instructions, documentation and reports. Perform scanner/plotter/printer operation and maintenance. Ability to work in a team environment. Must be able to work with Microsoft Office products. Working ConditionsWork will be performed in a standard office environment with regularly scheduled working hours. May require lifting of up to 30 pounds on occasion. The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
