This position is a Student Assistant 2 position at the University of Alaska Anchorage's Disability Support Services department.
Applicants must be eligible for Federal Work Study to be considered.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
Candidates must be comfortable and enjoy engaging with diverse populations; communicate effectively both orally and in writing; be able to handle multiple tasks at once, work successfully in a dynamic work environment, maintain appropriate boundaries and reliably maintain privacy and confidentiality.
This position handles highly confidential information, and must follow all FERPA rules and regulations.
Punctuality and dependability are essential, knowledge of UAA campus is a plus.
Experience in operating office equipment including (but not limited to) multi-line phones, assigned computer systems, Microsoft and Google Suites, and a copier/scanner/fax machine is preferred.
Training will be provided.

High School Graduate, or equivalent.
Customer service experience preferred.
Clearance to drive UAA DSS vehicle a plus, but driving is not required.

To be eligible for student employment an applicant must:
Be enrolled in the University of Alaska system with a minimum of six credit hours in the current semester (fall, spring or summer).
Note:
Students taking a break from classes during the summer are still eligible for Federal Work Study if enrolled in six or more credit hours the following fall.
If students are not registered for summer or fall classes they cannot be a student employee in the summer.
Have at least a 2.
0 cumulative grade point average (GPA) or approval from the Dean of Students.
Only work 20 hours a week during the academic year.
Must be physically able to lift up to 50lbs to occasionally relocate and locate DSS equipment/furniture around campus.
CANDIDATES MUST BE AVAILABLE FOR TRAINING Salary Information:
This is a Student Assistant 2 position paying $11.
34 per hour.
Must be FWS eligible.

DSS Operating hours are 8am-5pm Monday-Friday.
Student worker shifts are designed around each student worker's class schedule and availability.
Special evening hours may be available Monday and Thursday evenings.
This is a pooled position, which means that the position remains open over the entire academic year.
DSS is looking for friendly, motivated, detail-oriented, reliable candidates who are eager to learn and want to work in a positive, supportive and rewarding work environment.

Operation Assistants will support DSS daily operations working directly with students, staff, faculty, and visitors of the University of Alaska Anchorage Campus.
Job duties may vary based on the daily needs of the department (as directed by the Office Manager).
Duties require independent judgment and decision-making under supervision.
Sample duties include:
reception/front office coverage such as answering phones, data entry, scheduling, filing, making copies, etc.
; picking up and delivering exams; and special projects as needed.
