Summary:
The Communication center coach position supports the Communication Centers mission by assisting students in their public speaking assignments and activities.
They provide support for students in a wide range of ways including:
outline creation& support, audience analysis, organization, structure, visual aids, and delivery.
This position pays $15.
26/hour.
Duties:
100 - Provide coaching services regarding effective public speaking skills to students - Represent the Communication Center, the Learning Commons, and UAA in a professional and inclusive manner - Help create a welcoming atmosphere in the Communication Center - Adhere to academic integrity and privacy guidelines - When appropriate, refer students to additional campus learning resources - Communicate effectively with students, coworkers, and supervisors - Participate in workshops and outreach events - Attend trainings and meetings as scheduled - Help maintain electronic records of student visits - Restock supplies and materials, and help keep the Communication Center clean - Report incidents or events as they occur to supervisors - Other duties as assigned Essential Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
Required Education and
Experience:
Sophomore, Junior, or Senior standing at UAA, and currently taking at least 6 credits Minimum of one (1) year (at 20 hours per week) of work/volunteer experience 3.
0 Cumulative GPA Completed oral communication GER course (COMM 111 or COMM 241) Working knowledge of effective public speaking techniques Effective communication skills Capacity to work with students with diverse backgrounds Preferred Education and
