1K a year 1 day ago 1 day ago 1 day ago Business and Functional Purpose Through its merger with Oil Search, Santos has acquired and assumed operatorship over a world-class portfolio of oil leases on the Alaskan North Slope, USA.
Our focus in Alaska is advancement of our Pikka Phase 1 project, which includes a single drill site, an oil processing facility, and other infrastructure to support production of 80,000 barrels of oil per day.
Pikka has been identified as being among the top quartile of oil and gas development projects for greenhouse gas emissions performance.
Pikka is poised to play an important role in the energy transition and is aligned with our company goal of managing climate change risk.
The project is on track to be ready for a final investment decision by mid-year 2022.
The Pikka Unit is one of the largest conventional oil discoveries made in the United States in the last 30 years, and the Pikka Phase 1 Project is the most significant development on Alaska's North Slope in more than 20 years.
The permitted Pikka development project includes two additional drill sites.
The Alaska assets also include discoveries made from both the Mitquq and Stirrup exploration wells drilled in 2020.
These opportunities combine to offer a clear path to long-term growth in Alaska.
Position Purpose The subsurface data management team is responsible for the data and computing infrastructure in the Santos Alaska subsurface and exploration team, directly reporting to the Vice President Subsurface & Exploration.
The Subsurface Data Analyst sits in the subsurface data management team and reports to the Alaska Subsurface Data & Applications Manager.
This role will be responsible for day-to-day technical and administrative support to all disciplines on the team by:
Performing well data loading for development wells Syncing all data with the Santos subsurface database Assisting with the coordination and organization of geological and geophysical data as it arrives and departs the company, including management of transmittals Entry of geoscience and engineering data and reports to the Santos technical library Creating workflow automations to improve team efficiency Building and maintaining data visualizations to communicate progress Interface with the subsurface data management team to ensure that the Santos data model and governance is followed during development drilling Assisting in the software and hardware infrastructure management, including vendor engagement and software license level analysis Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities Promote and lead in the implementation of Santos Ltd policies and procedures, including Safety, health, environment, process, people and planning Load well data from development drilling and distribute to the well development team and sync to the Santos subsurface database Build and maintain progress communications Create workflow automations Enter geoscience and engineering reports to the Santos technical library Coordinate and organize incoming and outgoing data transmittals Assist in the subsurface software and hardware infrastructure management Qualifications, Skills And Experience Formal Qualifications College Degree or equivalent relevant experience Earth-Science, Science or GIS Tertiary Qualifications an advantage.
Skills/Technical Competencies Required:
Demonstrated experience working with and organizing petroleum geological and geophysical data, particularly well (header, logs, surface markers) seismic data, and Spatial/GIS Data Working familiarity with Petrel / Studio Excellent MS Office and Adobe skills A team player with a positive attitude and a 'customer service' approach to assisting others.
Self-motivated with excellent time-keeping and organisational skills High personal standards for maintaining data integrity and impeccable attention to detail Preferred:
Cartography capabilities within ArcGIS Python programming skills Familiarity with PowerBI and Spotfire data visualization tools.
Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
