Medevac Alaska Medevac Alaska Anchorage, AK Anchorage, AK Full-time Full-time $23 - $26 an hour $23 - $26 an hour 9 hours ago 9 hours ago 9 hours ago The Dispatcher provides direction across all shifts for Medevac Alaska regarding patient transport, and work scheduling of all Medevac dispatch communications and processes.
The incumbent will be the main line of communication between the caller, ground and air crew, hospitals, agencies, nurses, social workers, other EMS personnel, fire departments and administrators while on shift.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND DUTIES Answer calls for transport requests via multi-line telephone in a professional and courteous manner Interact with field units professionally over the phone and radio using proper etiquette and utilizing excellent customer service skills Coordinate and monitor air and ground units via telephone, radio and computer software Receives incoming calls, promptly ascertains proper levels of response, and allocates resources to match dynamic system demands Triage calls and enters accurate data into dispatch computer Monitor all radio/telephone traffic while simultaneously listening in for pre-alerts to incoming calls, pre-alerting units, and putting units promptly on the scene to maintain system compliance Familiar with response policies of client facilities and the ability to interact with them professionally Completes and submits daily status reports, including response time exceptions, response compliance, and unusual incidents, i.

complaints, accidents, injuries, call-offs, etc.
Follow HIPAA regulations when transmitting information Complete tasks timely and efficiently Ensuring our patients and crew are given accurate information Create reports after each transport Must have the ability to perform the essential functions of this position with or without reasonable accommodations Completely and accurately fill out any pre-authorization forms as needed Other duties as assigned SUPERVISORY FUNCTIONS None KEY WORK RELATIONSHIPS This position develops strong team relationships with our patients, managers and all internal and external stakeholders Must demonstrate professionalism when representing company to internal and external contacts.
Demonstrates the ability to interact cooperatively with peers, supervisors, and other company personnel Treat all people with courtesy and respect EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE High School Diploma or equivalent required Experience working multi- line telephone and dispatching preferred Ability to employ discretion and confidentiality in sensitive areas Minimum 6 months experience with Flight Vector procedures and techniques Radio communication skills KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES Ability to work varied shifts including nights, weekends and/or holidays Attention to detail and the ability to work independently and as a member of a team.
Ability to maintain confidentiality of and compliance with HIPAA regulations.
Knowledge of applicable local, state and federal laws and regulations.
Proficient computer software skills to include but not limited to Microsoft Office Products Proficient in data entry and with 10-key calculator.
Must be able to type at least 35 wpm Effective verbal and written communication skills.

Emergency Medical Dispatcher, Emergency Medical Dispatcher Certification (EMD), Equipment Management Specialist (EMS) PHYSICAL DEMANDS To successfully perform the essential duties of this position, an individual must be able sit or stand for prolonged periods at a desk.
Sit for extended periods of time particularly during high-stress situations.
The work environment consists of exposure to physical conditions typical of a normal office environment.
Most of the job is performed while sitting, although the work may require occasional standing or walking and/or the lifting and carrying of small objects.
