Duties Serves as Systems and Database Administrator and provides technical guidance and instruction to users and other Information Technology (IT) specialists:
Administers, installs, and maintains assigned systemsEnsures that the configurations of assigned systems comply with all DoD and AF Cybersecurity policies and meets or exceeds the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS)Optimizes the functionality and performance of hardware and software systems and ensures availability, integrity, efficiency, and reliability of assigned systemsMonitors the ongoing operations to ensure assigned systems are functioning within operational standardsIdentifies, troubleshoots, and develops corrective or preventative procedures and takes actions to rectify complex problems and prevent future occurrencesEmployee must keep abreast of new technology to ensure operational optimizationApplies innovative techniques and seasoned judgment to assist management in identifying areas where IT systems can reduce or eliminate labor and time intensive manual processesProvides assistance and support which will either resolve problems or provide understanding of available tools with which IT technicians and users can accomplish problem resolutionParticipates with management officials to identify automation requirements and conduct analysis of assigned systems to determine resources necessary to fulfill themTracks life of system equipment, prepares and provides analyses to determine future maintenance and replacement costs to help justify budget submissionsResponsible for administration of database servers including maintenance, monitoring and performance tunesEnsures existing databases collect, store, and processes data effectively and accuratelyModifies systems and database configurations to correct problems that affect the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of dataTakes a proactive approach to providing customer assistance to resolve database issues in a timely mannerProvides formal or informal training for users, subject-matter specialists and support personnelPromotes use of automated systems by providing instructions to functional area users on IT processes to include database and file accessing techniques, database security procedures, backup and program recovery techniques, and testing techniquesWill be driving between different facilities located on Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson to perform dutiesReports to the AsstDirector of Information Technology and will perform other related duties as requiredThis is a drug testing positionThe incumbent is subject to random testing. Experience:
Knowledge of a full range of database management concepts, operations, principles, methodologies, and approaches used indesigning, developing, testing, implementing, managing, and maintaining database systems that meet organizational needsKnowledge of system software and systems development life cycles including systems documentation, design development, configuration management, cost analysis, data administration, systems integration, and testingMust have 3 years of relevant, full-time work experienceEvery 2 years of IT related education may be substituted for 1 year of work experienceMust be able to read, write, and speak EnglishSuccessful completion of an Access National Agency Check with Inquiries (ANACI) is requiredMust have CompTIA Security
or other appropriate IA certificationMust obtain and maintain DoD 8570-M requirements within 6 months of hireMust be able to occasionally work evenings, weekends, and be on callFailure to maintain a security clearance and the proper IA certification can result in removal from this positionMust have a valid driver's licenseMust satisfactorily complete a pre-employment drug testYou will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas:
