Primary Responsibilities We are currently looking for a talented Roadway Business Class Lead to join our growing Alaska team.
As the Roadway Business Class Lead you will be responsible for supporting the technical aspects of all highway/ roadway projects prepared by the teams in the Alaska office.
The primary duties of the Business Class Lead include:
coordination of area projects, developing technical competencies in staff, improving standards and best practices, implementing effective quality control reviews, tracking staff workloads and utilizations, supporting/establishment of internal and external training opportunities, and coordinating with the office for project needs and recruitment/hiring of staff accordingly.
In addition to performing duties expected in the Roadway Business Class lead, you are expected to perform as a Project Manager or a Technical Project Lead.
As a Project Manager/ Technical Project Lead you will provide client management and business development support, as well as project management of the entire design process from the proposal through preparation of the Plans Specifications and Estimate of moderate to large highway/roadway project or projects prepared by the teams in the Alaska Area.
This role will include the following duties:
Serve as Project Manager or Technical Project Lead for key/critical projects or programs, including managing technical staff and subconsultant teams to meet project delivery needs and exceed client expectations As Project Manager, coordinate with internal staff, subconsultants, and clients to keep projects on schedule and within budget Perform/guide more complicated design work on larger projects Perform or assure that quality control is accomplished for each project Provide technical oversight for the Highway and Roads group.
Looked to be an expert in the field and develop relationships throughout HDR with other technical experts.

Verify SSBs meet client needs.
Act as the primary interface with national Business Class Leads and finding additional technical resources.
Coordinate with Alaska Area business group leads including environmental, planning, bridge, traffic, ROW, utilities, design-build, program management, and construction to support large projects in the Highways & Roads market sector Support the Market Sector Lead in client development activities and project pursuits for the purpose of growing the Alaska Area roadway practice area Occasionally participate in national projects as advisor/QAQC reviewer LI-MB1 Qualifications Required Qualifications BS in Engineering A Professional Engineering (PE) license is required.
Must have experience and relationships working with Alaska DOT&PF and other transportation agencies in the Alaska market.
A minimum of 10 years of experience in the various aspects of roadway engineering design.
Ability to market services and develop strong client relationships.
Experience with Civil 3D, AutoCAD, InRoads, Microstation, or other transportation design software packages.
Microsoft Office experience required.
Strong oral and written communication skills and ability to work in a team environment.
Demonstrated leadership skills.
As leading staff is key to this position, the Roadway Business Class Leader is expected to be a full-time position and working from the Anchorage office.
Preferred Qualifications 15
years of industry experience.
Project Management experience preferred.
Supervisory experience.
