Senior Repair Technician - John Crane (Anchorage, AK)

Company Description Job Description The Senior Repair Technician--under general supervision--repairs returned seals and seal parts, determines repair operations, performs simple shop operations, verify specifications, initiate work and purchase orders.
PRIMARY DUTIES:
Receives John Crane parts and materials returned by customers and branch offices.
Evaluates from condition of material, checks current drawing revisions and general product knowledge whether material is repairable or non-repairable.
Performs parts structuring, checks cost structure, ensures assembly is structured correctly.
Determines necessary repair operations and price of repair.
Performs simple operations on drill press (single spindle), tool post grinder, bead blast polisher and lapping machine.
Verifies part specifications with measuring instruments such as micrometer, vernier caliper, dial indicator and optical flats.
Initiates purchase orders for new jobs if vendors are involved.
Consults Engineering or Sales departments as necessary.
Maintains necessary records and small inventory of seal parts used for repair orders.
Assists newer repair personnel as necessary.
Sets up and troubleshoots lapping machines for repair maintenance.
HIRING SPECIFICATIONS:
Requires knowledge equivalent to four years of high school education.
An ability to read and interpret average assembly and machine drawings, make average to complicated arithmetic calculations and resolve elementary technical problems.
Over 2 to 4 years previous seal repair work experience and six months on-the-job training.
