Description:
The Geosciences & Reservoir Engineering (GGRE) IT Services team has an opening for an experienced GGRE Data Specialist. This individual will work with a wide range of technical users and IT and business professionals. Responsible for delivering innovative, forward-thinking technical data management and integration services for geological, geophysical, and petro-physical data to the subsurface community. Ideally, the successful candidate will be an innovative, energetic, and willing to challenge the status quo.
The Alaska GGRE IT Services team provides frontline technical application and data support and services to the Alaska subsurface community. We serve 70 geoscientists and reservoir engineers, with an application portfolio of 25 technical applications and 4 major master data repositories.
Responsibilities may include:
Single point of accountability for delivery of technical data management services for all subsurface data and metadata for Exploration and Development Teams
Identify and implement forward-looking data improvement projects and innovations to the Alaska business unit in a manner consistent with global standards, to optimize data value to the business
Provide oversight for all Alaska GGRE technical databases
Coordinate and take accountability for all GGRE data management requests from business
Maintenance and improvement of master data integration scripts
Use of specialized data management tools such as WoW and OpenSpirit
Ensure data access according to policies and control definitions
Inform the business unit on all data management and information management matters
On-board new staff and train them on current operational DM/IM procedures
Implement reporting to monitor data quality, and support data clean-up by owners of the data
Facilitate integration of data into data flows which facilitate standard geoscience interpretation workflows
Focal point for business workflow support with emphasis on issues related to data flow
Provide data management analysis and facilitate the loading, transfer, publication and quality control of subsurface data types
Resolve issues related to data availability, quality and accuracy
Provide support and mentorship to other team members in the practice of sub-surface technical data management, data delivery, and associated tools and workflows
Work with other team members to provide agreed turn-around service levels and effectively prioritize work items
Works independently to deliver on projects
Develop standards procedures for use by the team to achieve functional objectives
Understand corporate policies related to data and ensure compliance
Willing to consider alternate applicable ConocoPhillips work location if unable to relocate to Anchorage, AK.
Qualifications:
Basic/Required:
Legally authorized to work in the United States
Bachelor''s degree in geoscience, computer science, information technology, engineering or related technical degree
5 years of oil and gas exploration and production (E&P) industry experience
5 years of experience with data management
Intermediate experience working with relational data models, query access and data integrity checking
Intermediate knowledge of GGRE technical data
Intermediate knowledge of SQL
1 years of experience writing SQL queries
1 years of programming experience
Preferred:
Basic knowledge of Linux operating system
Programming experience in one or more of the following languages: Perl, Python, C#, and/or Visual Basic
Strong knowledge of Exploration and Production (E&P) workflows, data types and work practices gained through working in the subsurface, well engineering or production domain
Excellent understanding of the business applications used in the discipline related workflows and can give in-depth support to the business staff to properly manage the data across these
Ability to plan, lead and deliver technical data projects
Proven record of data management delivering solutions
Proven record of strong leadership, mentoring and influencing skills
Ability to work under rigid time constraints and adhere to tight deadlines
